Dedicated to our one year anniversary. I love you babe!
Have you ever met a person that makes you smile when they cross your mind? Someone you're so in sync with that they call you just as you pick up your phone to text them. A person that makes you want to wake up everyday just so you can spend time with them? I don't know about you, but I have.
Five minutes after all of those mushy feelings, she makes me want to pull out my hair, bulldoze through walls with my fists and drink heavily. Ok, so I may have over exaggerated those last few, but you get the point...Love isn't all glitter and gum drops. It hurts, it feels good, it's happy, it's sad. Hell, it's complicated. ALWAYS.
If it wasn't, it wouldn't exist. There would be no need to commit whole-heartedly to one person.
It's easy to show affection and listen and say "I love you!" but how easy is it to stick around after finding out you've been cheated on? How easy is it to love someone who doesn't love you back? To love someone who actually likes American Dad? Hopefully most of your complications won't be quite so severe, but they do exist.
Sometimes it's a bothersome ex, or trust issues or lack of communication. Other times it will be "who drunk the last of the juice, but left the carton in the fridge." With complications come confrontations, which often greatly test the strength of even the strongest of relationships. This isn't about effective arguing (although I'll keep that in mind for future posts), but it's about committing to loving through the ups and downs.
We all have our limits and if your love pushes you over yours, it may not be healthy, so do what you gotta do. But if you know that you literally can't imagine life without your honey, settle petty differences and embrace them every moment you can. Cherish the morning breath and stinky farts because, someone else could be smelling them. gross.
If you decide to love, always acknowledge her feelings and never steer her wrong on purpose. Even when she's being bipolar, you don't understand her and you are at your wits end, love her anyway. What's the worst that could happen? You'd spend the rest of your lives together in love?...doesn't sound too bad to me. :)
Great post Paris!
